What else sets us apart? We offer you a superior work-life balance: unlike other practices, our weekend hours are limited to 8am-12pm on Saturdays (closed on Sundays). Moreover, we schedule you for only one Saturday shift every two weeks, giving you two full weekends off each month. Veterinary Assistant - nearly full-time
Your work schedule would start with four midweek shifts each week (Monday-Thursday) and a Saturday shift every other weekend. Midweek shifts are 9am-closing (approximately 5:50pm); Saturday shifts are 8am-12pm.
Your primary focus would be on patient care:
- rooming patients and assisting the doctor in appointments
- helping with nurse appointments (vaccinations, blood draws, urinalysis, blood pressures, SQ fluids, x-rays, nail-trims, and anal gland expressions).
In addition, you would help with refiling charts, filling out paperwork, answering phones, and other miscellaneous tasks. Finally, all employees pitch in to keep the hospital looking clean and professional.
We would prefer to hire someone with prior experience as a veterinary assistant, but a minimum prerequisite is confident animal restraint of dogs and cats. Key personality traits we are looking for include enthusiasm, good energy, excellent communication and team-work skills, and a love for animals. Any job in veterinary medicine is a physical job: you will be on your feet for most of the day, and may occasionally have to carry bags of dog food or pets (up to 50 pounds).
